About Gatorland

Gatorland is a 110-acre theme park and wildlife preserve founded in 1949 by Owen Godwin. Billed as the "Alligator Capital of the World," it features thousands of alligators (including rare leucistic white alligators) and crocodiles, plus many other animals. Attractions include a breeding marsh with boardwalk and observation tower, zip lines, an off-road swamp vehicle tour, a ridgetable miniature railroad, alligator feeding shows, alligator wrestling shows, an aviary, petting zoo, and educational programs. The park is known for rescuing nuisance alligators from trappers that would otherwise be killed. Famous resident Jawlene is an alligator missing her upper jaw. The breeding marsh was used in filming the 1984 movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
